As the days start to get longer and the ground begins to warm, crops start to wake up and begin growing again. This is when they need some much needed fertiliser to help them give a decent yield. Nitrogen is put onto the crops with a special spinner which gives and exact amount to the crop guided by a very sophisticated GPS.

There are very strict rules about how much can be applied and it all has to be documented in case there is an inspection by the Rural Payments Agency.
